Field Trip to DD ranch

May 17, 2017
Today my Kindergarten class went on a field trip.  This was our first field trip, so, I was pretty excited.  We headed out to DD ranch to see how a working farm operates.  The first place that we got to go was the petting zoo.  I headed over to pet this huge pig.
I got to pet this calf.  He was a lot cuter than the pig.
We even got to help feed the calf milk from a big bottle.
That calf sure liked his milk.
We headed over to go into the goat pen.  We thought we would see if we could entice the goats over to the fence with some hay.
We got to head into the goat pen and pet the goats.  This goat and I are coming to an understanding.
I got this one to eat the hay out of my hand.
We then headed inside and learned about how bees make honey and about planting.
We all got to plant seeds in our cup to watch them grow.
The seeds needed some water to help them grow.
Then we got to go out on a hay ride to the pastures and see the cows.  The hay ride was sure fun.
We brought out some hay to feed the cows!
The cows ate right out of my hand.
I loved this photo of all these kids leaning out to feed the cows.
Feeding the cows and the hay ride was a blast!  Now it is time to head back for some lunch.
After lunch we got to play on the play structure they had.  This big slide was a blast.

Almost to the bottom!
I had a great time on the big swing!
Mom got some photos of me on the swing.

Our field trip was a blast.  I loved getting to pet and feed all the animals!
This afternoon mom did some crafting and made us some headbands for our Moana luau party.

A blue pool hike on Mother's Day

May 14, 2017
We had a fun mother's day today.  We headed to church this morning and then after church, since we were all dressed up, mom wanted to get some Mother's Day pictures with us!
We got Dad to come out and get some pictures of us girls!!!!!
We had some lunch, got changed, and headed out to the McKenzie river for a hike.  There was a good chance of rain, but we thought we would take a chance and go for a hike anyway.  We actually lucked out and ended up with only a little drizzle for a couple of seconds while we were at the blue pool.  Other than that is was great hiking weather!
The first bridge we crossed over.
McKenzie with her river in the background.
As we were walking along and I found a great hiking stick.
The trail was quite muddy in spots from the snow melt off.  Mom wanted to do the hike this time of year because there was actually a waterfall going into the pool, which only happens every couple of years.
I got a walking stick too!
This hallowed out tree was sure fun to walk through.
We made it to the second bridge on the hike.  It was so nice to see all the different shades of green out in the forest today.
We stopped while crossing the bridge to take some photos or was it to look and see if there were any trolls underneath.
No trolls under this bridge.
It was fantastic to see some different wildflowers blooming along the trail.  Here is a white trillium.
A purple trillium.  Usually you only see white ones, so, it was exciting to see this purple one.
It was mother's day, so, we humored mom and let her stop and take pictures of whatever she wanted!  We were so good to her today!!!!!!
There was even a wild orchid blooming!
We had to go up and over the log to get back onto the trail.
It was such a beautiful stretch of the McKenzie river through here.
My turn to go up and over the log!
A nice rock to sit on to rest!
Climbing up!
Mom was up above to give me a helping hand and to take a picture.
This was one of Mom's favorite pictures of the river.  Just look at that icy blue water.
There were some pink flower on a bush.  Mom wasn't sure what they were, but they were pretty.
So many fun trees to climb through and stop at for photo ops!
I stopped to peak through.
This old tree stump was pretty cool looking.
More of that pretty pink flower.  Sorry we let mom go crazy with her camera today, after all it was her day!
Another little rock that I found to rest on.
As we hiked along I got warmer and wanted to take my jacket off!
The Tamolitch Blue Pool.  This is were the McKenzie river emerges after submerging to a lava tube.  Usually there isn't a water fall flowing into the pool, but with so much snow this winter the melt off caused a runoff and the waterfall.
The water really was a crazy blue color.
Sitting an enjoying the view of the blue pool.
Hanging out with dad on a rock taking in the scenery.
We had fun hanging out together.  It was a steep drop off, so, mom had us sit down and not wander around.
A picture with the blue pool in the background.
One of me and the blue pool.
All smiles for the hike.  The smile could be all about the M&Ms that I got in my trail mix.

Some fellow hikers took some family photos of us!
It must really be mother's day.  Mom got to take a bunch of pictures and even got a family photo.
A cute one of Justin and McKenzie in front of the blue pool.
A cute on of Justin and Makayla on our way back.
Time for a little water break.
We still had smiles even on the way back.
What a happy face.
We found the tree tunnel again on our way back.
Of course we wanted to go through it again.
Check out the roots on this fallen tree.  That is quite the root system it had.
We had a fantastic day today and the hike was just wonderful.  We ended up hiking about four miles and didn't even complain!  This has to be the best Mother's Day yet!
