McKenzie's birthday adventure

May 21, 2017
Today we headed out for my birthday surprise adventure.  It was a warm sunny day in Portland, so, everyone was out and about and wanting to go visit somewhere.  When we got to the zoo parking lot it was already full and they were sending people to the overflow parking.  That was also fairly full, but we found a place.  At the overflow parking they bused you over to the zoo.  We were excited to get to ride the bus.  All the adults weren't so sure about going since the parking was so crowded, but when we were looking for a parking spot I read the sign that said the Zoo and after that I had my heart set on going.  The joys of reading.  We got on the bus and headed to the zoo.
Amazingly the zoo wasn't as over crowded as you would have thought with all the cars in the parking lot, so, in the end it all worked out!  We headed over to see the elephants when we got there because they were doing a talk about them.  These elephants were giving themselves showers.
It was really cool because we actually saw the elephants get in and swim and play in the water!  That isn't something you get to see everyday.
This guy just loved being in the water and getting treats on a nice hot day!
It was a blast watching the elephants play around in the water.
Nothing like having a snack while you swim.
For my birthday adventure I picked out a Sophia the 1st theme.
We sure enjoyed our Sophia picnic at the zoo.
After seeing the chimpanzees they had a little play area that you could swing around on like the chimpanzees do!
I love big cats.  Leopards are one of my favorites and so are these guys the cheetahs.  They were really cool because they would walk right up and by the window so we could get a good look.  I couldn't believe how skinny they were.
I talked Granpy into a piggy back ride!
I talked Daddy into one.
The hippos were just lazily laying around catching some sun.  I hope they know to put some sunscreen on!
Always fun to see the tall giraffes.
Granpy and I are on a mission to find the next animal.
We went into the penguin exhibit which are Grammy's favorite.
We went in to see the polar bear and they had a bunch of bears on the wall showing how tall they usually are and then you could measure yourself against them.  I am about half the size of a black bear.
The sun bear is a little closer to my size, but still bigger.
Getting closer!
I don't think I will ever get as tall as a polar bear.  Look at how tall they can be when standing on their hind legs.
Probably won't be as tall as the grizzly either.
We found a picture of the sun bear out side his exhibit, but we didn't find the sun bear today.  Bummer.
We thought we were still measuring ourselves against the bears.  So silly!
There was a blow hole that would spray water ever minute or so.  We headed over to stand by it and get wet and cooled off from the spray!  It helped us cool down on this warm day.
We headed in and found the otters and these stumps to sit on while we watched the otters play.  They are always so fun to watch.
McKenzie came over to sit on the stump and that way mom could get a photo of us with Grammy and Granpy!
As we headed through the northwest exhibit they had a fallen log tunnel you could climb through and sort of slide down.
Here I go inching myself along!!
The black bears were taking a nap.  Shhhhh don't disturb the bears!
I am sure enjoying my birthday adventure.  The zoo is sure a good place to choose for me!  I just love animals and seeing them and learning about them!
We can't go by a wingspan without seeing how we compare!  I had a blast seeing all the animals at the zoo.  They sure do have a lot here!  We were excited to be able to smash a penny on the way out to have as a souvenir of our special day!
When we got back to the car we did my birthday adventure dessert!  I wanted a pizza cookie, so, mom made me a chocolate chip peanut butter pizza cookie!
I got all the candles out and am now ready to try my cookie pizza!  I love pizza, so, what could be better than having it taste like a cookie!
Trying it out!
I think the smile means that she likes it!
All hanging out on the curb in the shade while we enjoy our birthday cookie pizza!
This pizza cookie is sure yummy and a little messy!
Did I get any on my face mom?
How about me?  I sure enjoyed my day today!!
We then had to head back to Redmond.  On the way back my new kitties helped me play my games on my tablet!
I even let McKenzie borrow a couple to help her with her games on her tablet!
While we were gone Scout went to the dog hotel and spa or at least that is what we told him it was called.  He got a bath and they removed all the undercoat that they could.  When we went to pick him up the lady said she could not believe how much fur came off of him.  We could believe it!  He sure does like to shed.  He looks so nice right now, however I am sure shortly he will be shedding more of his undercoat again.

Going to a Play

May 20, 2017
Today we headed to Portland for the weekend to see mom's cousin Haley's last high school play and to go on my birthday adventure.
We headed to the Spaghetti factory for dinner before we went to the play.  I sure enjoyed my sherbet ice cream!
I enjoyed my rainbow sherbet ice cream.  Every single bite of it.
It sure make us smile when ice cream comes with the meal.
Grammy and Granpy made it just in time to join us for dinner at the Spaghetti factory!
This is mom's cousin Haley.  We really enjoyed the play that she was in.  It was a kids play that told a bunch of kids stories, but with a silly twist to them.  She did a great job.  After the play we headed out to see her and get a photo with her!
We then headed out to our Great Aunt Linda and Great Uncle Joe's house to hang out and catch up with them.  They had this fun rocker to sit in that was just perfect for me!
They had our Christmas gift from Christmas that we got to open!  I love my light up board.  This will entertain me for a long time!
They gave me these kitties that meow and their meow is quite life like.  Great Aunt Linda said she didn't know that they meowed, but the verdict is still out.  We had a great time catching up with them.  It is always great to see them!!
